Sermon Notes... Yeah, it was THAT good!

I decided to try out Hilvue Heights Church here in Bowling Green and what a blessing.. The pastor speaks the truth and nothing but the truth whether it's harsh or not! So here is some of the things he said..

He was talking about "crossing's" in Joshua 3 starting in verse 1 if you want to go read it :)

  • You are a child of God and no one can take that away. God is in charge of your life.
  • You will ALWAYS be in transition, no matter what the circumstances
  • If you are a christian you are in a transition to HEAVEN!
  • God goes by what He says and when you do what God says, the promises of God will become a reality, in the present moment.
  • His promises can NOT be revoked... (Did you get that? can NOT)
  • When you don't listen to God problems will be bigger than they already were
  • If your gunna follow God, you HAVE to be ready
  • Failure always has an excuse...
  • In order to consecrate yourself you need to be in worship on a regular basis.
  • God called us to worship and live.
  • Do something with what God has done
  • Sometimes God will bring you to a difficult moment so we know how big of a God he is!
  • His promises are always greater than our reality
  • God calls us to be a priesthood (go before others so they can cross to, just like in the story ark of the covenant, the priesthood went before the rest)
  • Examples of "Crossing"
  • -Parting the red sea (was done by God alone)
  • -The Jordan River (God used the priest hood for his miracle, Read Joshua 3:1-16)
  • Sometimes when you take a step is when you see God move, such as the priesthood stepping into the Jordan
  • If the church has been faithful then the 'waters' will part that God moves you through
  • Have you put your feet in the water?
  • Take on the world as consecrated people!
  • God is ahead of us and His truth
  • When you wake up say to yourself "I have been created to live, How am I going to live today?"
  • Unbelievable things happen with an unbelievable God!

Voice of Truth

So last night I was having a super rough night and was trying to figure out why in the world God would send me to Western Kentucky University when all there is to do is go to a frat party which I personally think are way over rated... but anyways.. I was dealing with a bunch of things last night and laying in my bed praying and heard "Read James 1" I was like WHOA, and ignored the voice thinking I was crazy... but it kept reoccurring in my head so I finally got out of bed (which is not easy when you are as short as myself) got my bible and read James 1....

James 1:1-6
"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind."

Wow, what a blessing... I am going through all these mixed emotions to develop perseverance... God is great!

blogging... western... life

Well, I got a little jealous of my sister having a blog and EVERYONE talking about reading it... so I thought "why don't you make one" So here I am sitting in my dorm writing a blog! This will be a good way to keep all my family updated on what all is going on. This may be a pretty lengthy blog considering how bored I am and how much is on my mind :)

So let's get started...

Western... Wow, what a school! College is definitely an experience. It is a WHOLE new world. No one can truly prepare you for what all you will face at college. There is so many different aspects of being at college. If you don't already know, I am at Western Kentucky University and I will start classes this Monday. I am a little nervous but not really since I have already taken classes when I was a senior in High School... I'm taking Biology, History 119, and Economics on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays... those all are back to back starting at around 910 to 12 30 So I get a half day off to take naps and do homework and eventually work somewhere. Tuesdays and Thursdays are my easy days because I only have a PE class about Health and all that good stuff and University Experience which pretty much just introduces you to the University and is a fun good way to get to know people, or so I have heard. You probably can't tell that I am in college by the way my writing style is, sorry Mrs. Mason I really did listen in your class!

Dorm life really isn't that bad.. I am in Rodes Harlin which is in the Valley and Audrey Kaelin is my roommate I threatened her life if she drank my Orange Juice. We have decorated the room pretty well I am quite proud of us.. I still have some little things I need to get done.

Tomorrow I will be trying out a new church since I have to find one to go to here in Bowling Green. I will be going to Hillvue tomorrow morning. I am praying that God will show me where to go and where I will grow the most.

I am having a blast but am also missing home. I always thought Brennen would be my room mate and be at school with me but she is in Panama, Central America (go to brennengaddis.blogspot.com) to read about her adventures. I broke down for the first time tonight but I think I will be okay. It is so weird not being with mom an dad all the time. I didn't realize how much of a daddy's girl I am! But I'm going home this Friday since it's labor day so I will get to see them soon.

Anyways... I can't think of what else I was going to write. But I'll keep you updated!

With love, --Chelsea
